2 industrial units fined Rs 77 Lakh for stealing power

In a major crackdown on violators using illegal means to meet their daily power consumption, officials of the anti-power theft wing of the state power corporationrecently carried out raids on two big local industrial units, and imposed penalties of approximately Rs77 lakh on offenders caught during the special checking drive.

The latest raid was held on Thursday evening, where a medium supply consumer was caught by the state power corporation stealing power by attaching an underground cable to the main direct supply cables passing through Sua Road in Kanganwal.

As per information provided by chief engineer (Central Zone) Paramjit Singh: “Acting on complaints raised by local consumers before the power corporation, a team of local power officials — including section engineer RS Tung, and sub-divisional officer Amit Yadav — conducted raids on two big private firms in the recent past, and recovered Rs77 lakh through penalties, as they had adopted illegal means to fulfil their daily power demand.” Read  More
