Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) has successfully installed and commissioned a 380 kwp solar power plant on the two/ four wheeler parking shed roofs of three Metro stations namely Anna Nagar East, Pachiappas College, Nehru Park and the ground area inside CMRL depot.
Speaking to News Today, a CMRL spokesperson, said, “This set up is expected to generate around 45,600 units of electricity per month thereby saving around Rs 11,92,896 per year. This solar power project has been executed under zero capital investment by CMRL and based on RESCO model under Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) Scheme on a monthly tariff based payment.”
