Government employees are supposed to be a notch above others as far as civic sense is considered. However, this does not seem to be the case. An SNDL survey has found out that over 5,000 government and civic employees are not paying power bills and some are also pilfering power. A large percentage of these employees are cops.
A source in SNDL said the survey was done in Tajbagh Teachers’ Colony, Borkar Colony, Sweeper Colony, Thakkargram, Police Line Takli, CPWD Quarters and Gandhibagh Police Colony.
“Total 5,162 employees of central and state government and Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) were found not paying bills regularly. The total amount owed by them to SNDL is over Rs 96 lakh,” he added.
