With an aim to cut down on power expenses, the Civil Enclave of Allahabad Airport at Bamrauli would be lighted up by a solar power plant soon. Authorities maintaining the enclave have planned to set up an 800 KVA solar power plant at the premises.
The proposal sent by the officials has been approved by the Airport Authority of India (AAI) and a go ahead from the state power department is awaited before starting the installation of a solar power plant that would reduce the carbon footprint of the airport to a large extent.
Director of Bamrauli Civil Enclave Sunil Yadav said, “Application seeking a no objection certificate from the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited has been sent and as soon as we receive a green signal, the set process for installation would begin at the enclave”.
Though the solar plant would cost around Rs four core, it would help the airport save Rs two crore annually in power bills, Yadav added. Read More
