Two major power distribution companies of Andhra Pradesh have started acceptance of electricity bill payments digitally via BharatQR, becoming one of the first discom companies to adopt this mode of payment. BharatQR launched by the Reserve Bank of India, is a QR code based interoperable payment method and accepts payments via all four major payment networks, Visa, Mastercard, RuPay and American Express.
Both Eastern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh and the Southern Power Distribution Corporation of Andhra Pradesh have started accepting QR code based payments. This development assumes significance in the context of the less cash smart city initiatives of the government of Andhra Pradesh in collaboration with Visa. Read More…
