Union petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday said Assam will be the hub of hydrocarbon trade with Southeast Asian countries along with Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal as the Centre is giving impetus to the growth of oil and natural gas sectors in the northeast.
On Friday, Pradhan inaugurated hydrocarbon-related projects Rs 1,500 crore in the state. He said the Centre is pumping in investment in the hydrocarbon sector to increase production and export to the neighboring countries.
“Our vision is to make Assam the trading hub of hydrocarbon. Our investment in this sector will increase production so that we can supply it to Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar and other Southeast Asian countries under the Act East Policy,” Pradhan said here. Read More
