Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) achieved an all time high plant availability of 99.17 % in 2017-18 to generate 9360 million units, over 16 per cent higher than target set by the Central Electricity Authority. During the year, BBMB power houses achieved second highest single day power generation of 473.03 lakh units on September 12, 2017.
BBMB surpassed the generation target of 9360 million units fixed by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) for the year 2017-18 on 27th January. The generation in 2017-18 stood at 10881 million units against the CEA’s target of 9360 MUs for the period. “This additional generation greatly helped the partner states as the per unit cost of Generation from BBMB is much less as compared to their tariff of state utilities for various types of consumers,” chairman BBMB DK Sharma told media person.
During the year BBMB’s Transmission System availability stood at 99.68% for year 2017-18. Also, BBMB successfully commissioned unit ii of Ganguwal Power House and Unit iii of Kotla Power House that were forunit ced shut due to damage to runner blades.
