In a major relief to nearly 1.5 crore power consumers in the state, the Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission (BERC) has refused to hike tariff for fiscal 2019-20.
The two power distribution companies (discoms) — North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL) — had proposed around 6.5 per cent hike in the retail electricity tariff.
The BERC attributed increase in the number of consumers and reduction in aggregate technical and commercial (AT & C) losses as the reasons behind disallowing any power tariff hike.Read More
