The Bombay High Court on Wednesday removed the restrictions on biodiesel, which earlier prevented it from being used as transportation fuel to power vehicles.
The restrictions were implemented by the MSHSD (Motor Spirit High-Speed Diesel) control order, 2005, under clause 3.5, which stated that the sale of biodiesel cannot be not permitted for transportation without having marketing rights in terms of this Act duly given by the ministry.
The court was hearing a petition filed by My Own Eco Energy (L), the makers of Indizel, a drop-in fuel and automotive diesel made from non-fossil sources. Read More
