The Bombay High Court has slammed Railways for not ensuring complete safety of women passengers. The Bombay HC slammed the railways after the women passengers complained of feeling unsafe even in the compartments reserved for them. The Railways has been asked to submit a report on actions taken to ensure the safety of women by December 12, this year.
In 2012, public interest litigation relating to the safety of women on trains and vacancies in the Railway Protection Force (RPF) was filed. While hearing this litigation on Saturday, the Bombay High Court observed that the safety of women passengers has been compromised. Read More
