Bon Appetit, Says Railways

Hate train meals? Here’s something that may placate your taste buds.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is all set to revamp its meals served on board 11 Rajdhani and 14 Duronto trains, four of which pass through Jharkhand, from Sunday.

While bland soup and not-so-popular sandwiches will vanish from the menu, juicy and boneless chicken and bhaji (stir-fried vegetables) will make hot debut. For sweet success of the new fare, an extra chocolate bar will be offered with breakfast.

Debashish Chandra, group general manager of IRCTC (eastern region), said the objective was to suit the palate of every passenger. “We often receive complaints about undercooked chicken. Many do not like the soup and sandwiches served on these premium trains. Hence, the changes which are minus additional charges,” Chandra said, adding that the bhaji of carrots, green peas and cauliflower would be served with both lunch and dinner. Read More
