TNPCB cuts power supply to Sterlite unit in Tuticorin

With the Madras high court on Wednesday staying expansion of the Sterlite Copper unit in Tuticorin, the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) on Thursday morning ordered cutting of power supply to the plant, located in SIPCOT industrial estate on the outskirts of the port town.

State-run gas utility GAIL (India) Ltd on Thursday reported a fourfold increase in the company’s standalone net profit to Rs 1,021 crore of the fourth quarter ending March 2018. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 260 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago and had incurred an impairment of investment cost of Rs 788 crore.
