An audit report by Central Railway has found infrastructure at Mumbai’s railway stations to be in a sorry state, news daily DNA reported on Tuesday.
The report underlined the necessity to improve the foot-overbridge (FOB) connecting Parel and Elphinstone Road stations.
The audit was done by multi-agency teams formed by Central and Western Railways after the dreadful stampede at Elphinstone Road station’s foot-overbridge on September 29 that left 23 people dead.
The audit’s aim was to assess the condition of Mumbai’s suburban railway to recognize the risks, safety issues, and other difficulties faced by passengers. While Central Railway (CR) has submitted its report, Western Railway (WR) is yet to do so. Read More…
