A Dibrugarh-bound train caught fire on Friday, leading to the death of at least two passengers onboard. The blaze, according to reports, erupted in three compartments of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express in the afternoon. The location where the fire incident was reported is Chathaat station in West Bengal, close to the city of Jalpaiguri.
At least fire tenders from Phansewada and New Jalpaiguri Junction have been rushed to Chathaat – a location so remote that mobile network is hardly available. The firefighting operation was underway by the time this report was published. The casualty-toll was feared to rise. Read More
