The Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) has once again pulled up the UT electricity department for failing to introduce time-of-day (TOD) tariff system under which consumers pay less for power during non-peak hours.
The commission on July 22, 2011, had directed the UT power department to launch the facility by installing TOD meters in a bid to record power utilisation and time at which the electricity was consumed. However, eight years on, the department is yet to start the facility.
In its new order, the JERC stated, “The commission takes a serious view of the fact that the petitioner is yet to roll-out TOD metering for its consumers. The petitioner is directed to submit an action plan in this regard”. Read More
