A cleanliness drive would be organised along the famous Shimla-Kalkarailway track on May 12 with an aim to create awareness for protection and conservation of the UnescoWorld Heritage Site.
The event ‘Walk the Track’ would witness cleaning, forestation and beautification of The HeritageKalka-Shimlarailway track and also sensitise people about protection and preservation of Environmentand ecology in general.
The Kalka-Shimlarailway track has been divided into 43 segments of around 2 km each for the walk. Out of these, 32 segments covering a length of 67 km fall in Solandistrict and 11 segments covering a length of 23 km fall in Shimladistrict.
Forty-three groups of participants, including students, will collect litter and waste as they walk along the track in their specified area.
