Even while fire outbreaks are being reported from across the city, coal stacked at a yard owned by Cochin Port Trust (CPT) at Willingdon Island is posing threat to industries and residents near the area.
According to residents, the coal imported by a public-sector company in Kottayam is lying unattended at the yard for a few days and fire outbreaks have been reported from there many times.
Residents said that the coal stacked was of substandard quality and that was the reason why the company refused to take the consignment. Read more
