Crackdown on ticketless travellers! Indian Railways earns big sum with fine collected from ticketless travellers! Recently, the Western Railway zone of the national transporter said that it has earned an amount of Rs 116.86 crore from ticketless travellers.
The amount has been collected from passengers in the last eleven months, according to a PTI report. In a statement issued by the Western Railway, it has been stated that between April 2018 and February 2019, the zone had detected as many as 25.17 lakh cases of ticketless or irregular travel, including cases of unbooked luggage. The statement further added that the cases were registered during the regular checks conducted by 2,363 ticket checking staffers of Indian Railways.
