As severe cyclonic storm ‘Vayu’ advances towards the Gujarat coast, the Western Railway has cancelled several trains for three days- from June 12 to June 14. According to a tweet by Western Railways, all passenger and Mail/Express trains to Veraval, Okha, Porbandar, Bhavnagar, Bhuj and Gandhidham stations are being short terminated or cancelled after 1800 hrs (6 PM) on June 12 to morning of June 14.
It further added saying that the railways will run one special train from each station to evacuate all persons from respective areas. “In view of warnings of impending Vayu Cyclone, WR is prepared to take necessary precautions for safety of passengers & trains.
A K Gupta, GM/WR held a review meeting in HQs office in this regard. Divisions where stns are situated in coastal areas of Gujarat will be on alert”, the Western Railways tweeted. Read More
