Union Ministry of Power has pulled up J&K for dilly-dallying approach in electrification of over 3.80 lakh households in different parts of the State despite liberal financial assistance under major schemes aimed at ensuring Power for All by December 31, 2018.
Official sources told EXCELSIOR that during a recent review meeting convened at Union Capital the Ministry of Power conveyed its displeasure to the senior functionaries of the Power Development Department of Jammu and Kashmir over slackness in electrification of un-electrified households in the State.
The Ministry observed that over 3.80 lakh households are yet to be electrified by the Power Development Department (PDD) and Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), which have been entrusted with the task of implementation of major power sector schemes like Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY), Prime Minister Development Programme (PMDP) and Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana commonly known as Saubhagya.
