The LPG bottling plant of the Indian Oil Corporation at Periyakalandai village near Kinathukadavu conducted an emergency response drill on Thursday as part of the Fire Safety Week valediction.
At about 3.30 p.m., an imaginary scenario was created wherein a valve removed cylinder fell on another cylinder, triggering a spark igniting the vapour traces present in the cylinder. The operator, on noticing this, operated the fire extinguisher and communicated the emergency through walkie talkie and all operations were halted on hearing the siren.
The employees rushed to the fire spot and positioned themselves near the fire hydrants and monitors, and operated the sprinkler system, hydrant system and monitor system. Read More…
