Close to 8,000 farmers from Lucknow and neighboring districts will hold a rally at UPPCL headquarters on July 25 demanding free electricity. The farmers’ outfit, Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU), said if demands are not met similar protests will be held all over the state.
On Thursday, close to 4,000 farmers participated in the ‘Jansunvai’ (public hearing) held at the UP Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) saying government should not increase the power tariff as it will increase the input cost for farming.
“Our suggestions were accepted and were were assured that our views will be placed before the commission,” said BKU spokesperson Alok Verma. Read More
