Five coaches of a Mumbai suburban train got derailed on Thursday morning at 5.53 am. The Kurla-Ambernath local went off the track between the Kalyan and Vitthalwadi stations, though no one was injured or killed. Services on the Kalyan-Karjat route were suspended, Central Railway tweeted.
The Pune Deccan Queen and Pune Intercity Express were suspended following the incident. Several Express trains, including the Pune Deccan Express and Sinhagad Express were diverted. Central Railway said restoration work at the derailment site “is in full wing”. It also said the local municipal corporation has been requested to run extra buses between Kalyan and Ambernath.
