State-owned miner Coal India Ltd’s five worker unions have threatened a three-day strike from June 19 to protest a proposal to merge Coal Mines Provident Fund Organisation (CMPF) with the Employee Provident Fund (EPF).
“Around five lakh coal workers from different subsidiaries of Coal India Ltd and Singareni Collieries Company Ltd have decided to proceed on three days nationwide strike…The decision for proceeding on strike has been taken after failure of third National Wage Board meeting,” a release from the workers union said.
The five unions – Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS), All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) and Centre of Trade Unions (CITU) have demanded stopping of merger of CMPF and EPF. Read More…
