Indian Railways is all set to give a makeover to its stinking and unhygienic toilets. The Central Railway (CR) has decided to provide people with clean and inodorous toilets. The toilets at Indian Railways station premises are infamous for foul smells and dirty conditions.
Now the CR has upgraded the toilets at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Thane railway station. The old toilets have been renovated and have been equipped with air-conditioning. These toilets will be made operational soon.
The CR will take up the cleaning of the dirty toilets to make them free of the foul odour in the first phase. In the second phase, the reconstruction and upgradation of the toilets will be taken up.
“We are also taking up the challenge of changing faces of toilets at stations like Govandi where the situation is pathetic. We are building luxury toilets which shall have all amenities one would find in high-end hotels,” said a senior CR official to DNA. Read More
