Four bogies of the Vijayawada – Machilipatnam passenger train were derailed near Vadlamannadu in Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday after it ran over cattle on the tracks. As per authorities, no injuries were reported in the incident.
Reports suggested that the train possibly ran over a buffalo on the rail tracks, due to which the accident occurred. Authorities confirmed that the train mishap had occurred due to the presence of cattle on the railway tracks.
An official statement by the South Central Railway said that the incident occurred when train no. 77215 Vijayawada – Machilipatnam passenger express ran over cattle near Vadlamannadu railway station between Pedana and Kavutharam Railway station at around 6:35 pm today. The mishap took place on Gudivada-Machilipatnam Section, the press release added.
Following the incident, two trains were cancelled for Tuesday – 77220 Machilipatnam-Gudivada Passenger and 77219 Gudivada-Machilipatnam Passenger. Read More
