Strengthening rupee and weakening global crude oil prices have once again brought respite to daily commuters in Daily as the petrol prices were dropped to Rs 78.99 per litre on Saturday. Price of diesel was at Rs 73.53 per litre in the national capital.
In Mumbai, petrol was priced at Rs 84.49 per litre, while diesel was at Rs 77.06 per litre.
Fuel prices touched their record high of Rs 84 per litre for petrol and Rs 75.45 a litre for diesel in the previous month.
The government, on October 4, had decided to cut excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 1.50 per litre each and asked state-owned fuel retailers to subsidise by another Re 1 a litre by reducing their margins. Read more
