Power minister R K Singh on Friday made scathing remarks on states dishonoring power contracts and giving free power, and imposing high tariffs on industry, asking them to put state welfare before elections and said don’t think people are fools to believe you.
“If you take right steps people understand. Don’t think people are fools. If you think you give them free thing and they will vote for you, you have contempt for your own people. Don’t think you can buy them by giving free things. They have enough judgment. They know whether you are working for the long-term benefit of the country or not,” he said in Gujarat at a congregation of state power ministers.
