Physical verification by discom officials of the premises of beneficiaries of Indira Griha Jyoti Yojana, who were consuming more than 150 units in a month, has revealed misuse of the scheme in Barwani district.
During verification, the officials found that the registered beneficiaries were using air conditioners, coolers and submersible pumps. and many of them had given connection to their tenants who were not eligible for the scheme. Also, a consumer is eligible for the scheme if total load of his power consumption is 1000 watt. As such, those using ACs and heaters cannot avail benefits of the scheme.
“We have listed the beneficiaries for the survey on the basis of their power consumption. Physical verification of load is being carried out at the houses of beneficiaries, who have used more than 150 units in past three months,” Barwani discom superintendent engineer Anil Negi told TOI. Read More
