Gujarat government has decided to join hands with the United Kingdom for the initiative to develop energy calculator in the state. The deputy high commissioner of UK, Geoff Wain visited the energy minister Saurabh Patel in Gandhinagar on Monday to talk about the development of the initiative. This exercise is mainly aimed at reduction of the carbon footprint of the state and knowing the requirements for capacity building in the energy sector in the state.
The minister said, “We are holding dialogues with the UK to prepare energy calculator for Gujarat as it would give a great benefit to the government understand energy requirement and pattern of energy consumption in the state. This will enable us to reduce our carbon footprint and also understand the requirement of energy time by time. The deputy high commissioner of UK had come for the same purpose here.”
“This will include the holistic study of energy consumption further categorised in sources of energy, means of energy consumptions, the requirement of energy in different sectors, peak and bottom periods of energy consumption viz geographical areas and other. This study will help the government on the rationalisation of energy use and UK will share this technology with no cost,” Patel added. Read More
