Rail Vikas Bhavan (DRM office campus), Pattabhipuram, Guntur, has been selected as the first IGBC Green Campus Platinum rating (existing) in Indian Railways. senior divisional commercial manager, SC Railway, Guntur, K. Uma Maheswara Rao said.
Speaking to mediapersons here, he said that Indian Railways is a pro-environmental organisation and to reinforce its image as a “green transporter”, the authorities decided to undertake Green Rating Certification for different types on railway establishments being maintained under their purview.
As part of this policy, Guntur division has taken an initiative to go for green rating certification for Rail Vikas Bhavan campus (Divisional Railway Manager’s Office Campus, Guntur).
Mr Maheswara Rao said that IGBC authorities, during their visit to railway station, advised the officials to achieve platinum rating by developing energy saving facilities, water conservation, utilisation of natural sources (solar and water) and developing flora/fauna, green environment development and protection, along with adopting waste management policy.
