MCG has asked state-owned Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) to install an additional 18,000 street lights, after having identified multiple dark spots across the city. Some 57,000 street lights have already been installed, officials said.
“Dark spots are patches of road with no light at all, which could be a serious concern in terms of safety. The cost of installation of the 18,000 street lights is around Rs 18 crore and the work is expected to be complete in the next few months, the official added. Read more
