The Madurai bench of Madras high court has directed the police and Tangedco authorities in Ramanathapuram district to submit a report by January 3 in response to a petition urging the authorities to restrain a Mumbai-based energy firm from setting up high tension electric lines on a patta land in Karisalkulam village.
Petitioner V Thannasi stated that the private firm trespassed into his property with the help of local police to set up a high tension electric line over his land without his permission. He also submitted that he had learnt from the authorities that Tangedco had not given permission to the company to establish the high tension electric line in the region, especially over his land. He had already filed a petition with the concerned authorities, but no action had been taken thus far.
When the petition came up for hearing, Justice V Bhavani Subbarayon perused the photographs submitted before the court along with the petition and observed that the company had already erected structures on the land. Read More
