Prominent trains Shatabdi Express and Rajdhani Express will be replaced with high-speed Train 18 and Train 20 soon. The two trains are undergoing trials in Moradabad division of Northern Eailway. This information was shared by member, Railway Board rolling stock, Rajesh Agarwal.
He was in the city to attend 150th anniversary celebrations of Charbagh locomotive workshop. Agarwal said the two proposed trains are part of ‘Make in India’ initiative. Each train will cost Rs 100 crore.
Railway officials said Train 18 is being tested at the speed of 160 km/hour and Train 20 for 170 km /hour. These trains are being manufactured in Integral Rail Coach Factory at Chennai.
In comparison, Shatabdi Express runs at the speed of 100-120 km/hour and Rajdhani Express at 90 km/hour. Train 18 will replace Rajdhani Express while Train 20 will replace Shatabdi Express.Read More
