Acres of land is being mined illegally at Vennikulam at Puramattom panchayat with alleged police connivance. Acres of land along the Pullad road near the Vennikulam junction is being mined using extensive machinery support in the day and the soil is shipped out in the night. The mining, that has initially secured permission from the Mining and Geology department but was given a stop memo by the department and the RDO after irregularities were spotted.
Mining is in full swing at Thadiyoormoodu junction too. At Thonippara along Thelliyoorkavu road in ward number 1 of Puramattom Panchayat, extensive mechanised mining has resumed ignoring local complaints that stopped it for a while. This mining had started three months ago. Read More…
