Indian Railways Bullet Train project: PM Modi gets this letter about rules not being followed

Indian Railways Bullet Train project: Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel has alleged that rules and procedures are not being followed while acquiring land for the proposed Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet train project, and sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention to ensure that farmers’ rights are not violated. The National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRC) along with district officials initiated the process of acquiring land across several districts in south Gujarat for the Rs1.10 lakh crore bullet train project connecting Ahmedabad and Mumbai.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, the Rajya Sabha MP said that according to complaints filed by farmer representatives, rules and procedures under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, were not being adhered to for land acquisition for the project. A little over 612 hectare land needs to be acquired in the state.
