In a digital push, the Railway Board has decided that private booking of entire passenger rakes and coaches can only be done digitally using a link in Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation’s (IRCTC) Web site. “There will be no manual booking of full tariff rate (FTR) trains,” an official source of the Railway Board told a leading portal. However, he did not inform the details from which date the new directive will be effective.
Notably, these bulk bookings are usually done for corporate meetings, school/college tours and marriage ceremonies. Till now, to book coaches or trains, travellers had to go to the station master of the station from where the journey would commence and provide a written request containing journey details for FTR booking.
