Indian Railway’s first ever Double Stack Dwarf Container Services was flagged off on 7th July, 2018 at 11.00 hrs from Western Railway’s Rajkot railway station by Shri P. B. Ninawe – Divisional Railway Manager of Rajkot Division. 82 containers loaded with Polypropylene Granules, this train was booked from the Reliance Rail Siding at Kanalus to Rewari in the state of Haryana.
Due to this Double Stacked Dwarf Container Service, Indian Railways received increased revenue of Rs. 18.50 lakhs. Presently, M/s Reliance Industries plans to book 2-3 trains per month from Rajkot Division and is expected to increase in the near future.
According to a press release issued by Shri Ravinder Bhakar – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, this innovative initiative was personally monitored by Shri A.K.Gupta – General Manager of Western Railway with keen interest and from the initial stage, he very well ensured all the necessary approvals & required actions for suitable execution of the plan.
