Indian Railways new luggage rules, know everything here

IRCTC has a number of rules when it comes to luggage policies and many must not be aware of them. According to these rules, every passenger is allowed a certain allowance up to which they can carry the luggage along. This allowance differs from compartment to compartment. Usually, passengers tend to carry more; thus, from now on, the extra luggage will be chargeable at 1.5 times the applicable luggage rate.

Here, have a look at the luggage rules by the Indian Railways for different classes:

AC First Class: 70 kg (Free allowance), 15 kg (Marginal allowance), 150 kg (Maximum quantity permitted which includes free allowance)

AC 2-Tier sleeper/First class: 50 kg (Free allowance), 10 kg (Marginal allowance), 100 kg(Maximum quantity permitted which includes free allowance)

AC 3-tier sleeper/AC chair car: 40 kg (Free allowance), 10 kg (Marginal allowance), 40 kg(Maximum quantity permitted which includes free allowance)
