India’s latest 2-GW wind auction gets just 1.2 GW of bids – report

The 2-GW tranche-V wind power auction of The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has attracted bids as low as INR 2.51 (USD 0.037/EUR 0.031) per kWh, Mercom Capital reports.

The tender was undersubscribed by 800 MW and got proposals totalling just 1,200 MW, an unnamed party whose company took part in the tender told the consultancy.

The weak interest has been explained with connectivity issues, of which wind developers are well aware. According to the source, ReNew Power, Adani Green, Sprng Energy and Alfanar were all among the participants in the tender, each bidding for 300 MW.

SECI sought to award 2-GW of Inter-State Transmission system (ISTS)-connected projects in the tender, launched at the end of May. Read More
