Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) Chairman-cum-Managing Director B.N. Shukla suspended V.K. Singh, manager of Bharatpur open cast mine project in Talcher coalfields, on Saturday for his alleged negligence leading to a fatal accident in the mine in Odisha, the company said in a statement.
As many as three miners were killed and nine others injured following a strata collapse that triggered a landslide in the mine on July 23.
While three bodies of trapped workers have been recovered, the rescue operation is on to trace the fourth person missing in the mishap. Read more
