According to a government resolution (GR) of March 8, the foundry sector in the region will continue to get discounted power tariff bills until the year 2023-24. The GR has been issued by the department of Industries, Energy, and Labour of the state government.
The discount, according to the GR, was started from April 2016 for three years. That period was supposed to end in March 2019. With the March 8 GR, the foundries in the region will enjoy discounted tariffs for five more years.
Meanwhile, industrialists from the region say the tariff discount should be inclusive of other industries as well, not just foundries. According to experts, the district has around 450 foundry businesses. There are many other businesses, which are co-dependent with foundry.
