Upcoming metro projects in India: With the successful running of Delhi Metro and Kolkata Metro, several metro networks have been launched across the country over the last few years. Not only does the metro network help decongest the busy city roads but also provides an environmental friendly mode of transport, thereby curbing the pollution level.
There are also several other benefits of using the metro network for travelling like reduced travel time, cost-effectiveness, safety and convenience. Some of the newly launched metro networks include Ahmedabad Metro and Nagpur Metro. We take a look at 5 upcoming major metro projects in India:
1) Kanpur Metro: The Kanpur Metro, which has been recently approved by the Cabinet will comprise of two corridors- IIT to Naubasta corridor and Agriculture University to Barra-8 corridor. The 23.785 km long Naubasa corridor will consist of 14 elevated stations and 8 underground stations.
The 8.60 km long Agriculture University to Barra-8 corridor will consist of 4 elevated and 4 underground stations. The entire project, which will be completed in 5 years will cost around Rs 11,076.48 crore. Read More
