Dark stretches in the city is an issue the MCG is trying to address, but even areas that have streetlights turn dark when the power snaps. To resolve this, MCG plans to install solar lights and to make this a reality the civic body has sent a proposal to the state government.
“These lights will be fitted with solar panels and within a span of 30 days, the city will witness ground-level changes,” claims an MCG official.
“The city will get nine-meter solar lights which will be installed at important junctions to avoid dark spot that lead to accidents at night. We have been working to identify the junctions, which have witnessed either major accidents or are known as dark spots,” said Raman Yadav, executive engineer of MCG.
Yadav added that the installations will take place in phases. In the first phase, four major areas — Sector 47, Sector 38, Palam Vihar main junction, SPR-Sohna road junction — have been identified where the lights will be installed. After studying feasibility of the initiative, more junctions will be covered.Read More
