The Narendra Modi led central government’s flagship Ujjwala Scheme is all set to complete its eight crore gas connection target six months ahead of its March 2020 deadline, Hindustan Times has reported.
The scheme is aimed at providing free gas connections to poor families and in the next phase is expected to cover an even bigger beneficiary pool. As of 26 August, over 7.96 crore connections have been already provided under the scheme.
The Ujjwala yojana was launched back in May 2016 with an initial target of distributing 5 crore gas connections in three years.
