In view of the increasing demand for AC local trains in Mumbai, the Western Railways has decided to run air-conditioned local trains on weekends too. The AC local train service between Churchgate and Virar, which currently runs five days per week, has started operating daily from September 14 on public demand.
The air-conditioned train used to make six trips per day between Monday and Friday when it was launched on December 25, 2017 but now it is running on all seven days of the week.
“Looking at the great potential for the AC local and in view of public demand, W. Rly has decided to run the AC local train services now on weekends too w.e.f 14th September 2019. Hence, now it will be run on all seven days of the week,” Western Railways said in a tweet. Read More
