The Railways is planning to install blue-coloured indicators on the doors of the Mumbai local in a order to prevent accidents, that usually occur when commuters board or de-board a train. The lights will be installed above the door frame of every door of the local; it will indicate passengers about train movement.
The installation of blue light visual indicator has been carried out in the Kurla car shed of the Central Railways (CR). The CR has said that it will monitor the performance of the indicator, and based on the outcome and commuter feedback, a decision will be taken whether the indicators should be installed on more coaches of the Mumbai suburban local train, that carries around 75 lakh commuters daily.
