Mumbai: Signal failure sends Western Railway trains for a toss

Thousands of commuters suffered inconvenience during rush hour after local train services were disrupted on Western Railway (WR) due to signal failure reported at Goregaon railway station on Wednesday morning. According to railway officials, train services were affected for about 45 minutes and nearly 50 services were cancelled.

Earlier in the morning, WR tweeted, “Due to technical failure at Goregaon station, all local services are running 20-25 minutes late. Inconvenience caused to passengers is deeply regretted.” The tweet further said train services had been hit due to a signal problem between Goregaon and Jogeshwari.

Irate commuters slammed WR on its official Twitter handle. “Trains from Virar are packed and it is difficult to board from Bhayandar station.  The 8.25 am Bhayandar-Churchgate local is delayed by almost an hour,” said regular commuter Suraj Pandey. Read More
