Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today dedicated the 162 km long Sambalpur-Rourkela section of the Biju Expressway, built at a cost of Rs 1292. 56 crore, to the people of the state at a function at Jharsuguda .
Official sources said the four-lane Expressway built on public-private-partnership (PPP) mode passes through Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh districts, has six major bridges and 39 minor bridges, three railway over bridges, one railway under bridge, two fly overs, threesubways four vehicular under passes an elephant underpass and five reptile underpasses.
The Sambalpur-Rourkela Expressway is a part of the Rs 3000 crore Koraput-Rourkela Biju Expressway.
The 650 km long Expressway, proposed to connect Jagdalpur (in Chhattisgarh) and Rourkela and serve as an economic corridor for Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Nuapada districts. Read More
