The power situation in the state capital is likely to improve once a new state-of-the-art gas insulated substation is installed at Patto Plaza.
The electricity department has issued a Rs 20 crore work order to SMS Limited (formerly SMS infrastructure Limited) to design, supply, install, test and commission a 33/11-KV gas insulated substation along with associated equipment.
At present, Panaji is dependent on three substations located at EDC, Campal and Altinho. While the EDC substation supplies power to Panaji and Ribandar, the Altinho sub-station supplies power to Altinho, St Inex and the Panaji market area and the Campal substation supplies power right up to Caranzalem.
